Digital Library and Digital Literacy

Information technology is crucial for learning, facilitating rapid and tailored knowledge acquisition. Its benefits extend beyond education, as it allows for gathering, filtering, and application of vast amounts of knowledge in daily life. Particularly, the abundance of information in electronic databases necessitates understanding techniques, usage methods, and proper search methods to avoid delays and ensure desired information retrieval.

MUKA Library, in collaboration with planning and quality development and digital technology divisions, is tasked with promoting and supporting learning and teaching activities for students, faculty, and staff.  Digital technology literacy, database searching, information access, and storage are crucial aspects addressed through various activities.  Digital technology activities are scheduled at the MUKA library every month.  Students who pass these activities will receive 2 activity hours (AT) from the extra-curricular activities (HIDEF).  Examples of digital technology activities are as follows.

Enhancing data presentation efficiency with Looker Studio’s Data Visualization:

Efficient data analysis and presentation are crucial skills for digital-era students. Looker Studio, a powerful data visualization tool, enables students to easily create beautiful and interactive reports and presentations by collecting data from various sources, both online and offline. Its features facilitate clear and impactful presentations, enhancing student projects.

Ensuring proper usage of ChatGPT:

ChatGPT serves students well for research, group work, or reporting, but its proper usage requires control for maximum benefit. Students must understand ChatGPT’s limitations and ensure the accuracy of received data before utilization. Responsible and ethical usage is paramount to prevent academic misconduct and negative learning/work outcomes.

Simplifying programming through AppSheet (No-Code Platform):

AppSheet simplifies app development for students without extensive coding knowledge, utilizing familiar data sources like Google Sheets or Excel. Its drag-and-drop interface and automation capabilities enable easy app creation, reducing skill-specific limitations.

Easy creation of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) content:

AR and VR technologies offer new educational and work opportunities for students. Numerous applications allow easy creation of AR/VR content without advanced programming knowledge, fostering immersive learning experiences.

Rapid prototyping with 3D printing and scanning:

3D printing and scanning technologies enable students to quickly and accurately create prototypes for group projects or presentations. These technologies reduce time and cost in prototype development, allowing for rapid testing and improvement before final delivery.

In conclusion, these technologies greatly benefit modern students in enhancing learning efficiency, fostering creativity, and delivering contemporary and engaging presentations.
