Collaboration between Mahidol University, Kanchanaburi Campus and Korea National University of Education to develop “Coding Lessons and Global Science Curriculum” for Thai schools

On July 10, 2023, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nongnuch Sungayuth, Assistant Vice President of Kanchanaburi Campus for Social and Community Relations, and Dr. Chutamas Sukonthapatipak, Head of the STEAM Learning Management Development Project, along with faculty members and graduate students from the Department of Earth Science Education at Korea National University of Education (KNUE), including Prof. Jungjoo Sohn, Prof. Taejin Choi, and Mr. Changhyun Ryu, visited the Director and teachers of Ban Wang Sing School and the teachers of Wat Trairatnaram School. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the development of science and technology teaching practices among the teachers in the schools, in collaboration between Mahidol University, Kanchanaburi Campus (MUKA), and Korea National University of Education (KNUE), Republic of Korea, as part of the UNESCO-UNITWIN project.
During the meeting, the participants reached conclusions that align with the schools’ needs. These conclusions included the development of coding lesson plans for students in grades 6 to 12 at Ban Wang Sing School, and the development of local curriculum focused on global science and environmental studies for upper primary levels at Wat Trairatnaram School.
As part of the collaboration, the working team from MUKA, will serve as mentors for the teachers from both schools, working together with KNUE to develop the aforementioned lesson plans and curriculum.
