Mahidol/York Environment and Policy Mini Conference
On June 30, 2022, researchers from Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus met with researchers from the University of York, UK to introduce themselves and their expertise, exchange interest in issues related to agriculture. water resource management and environmental management. At present, Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus and the University of York, UK have a joint research project on “Leveraging research into sustainable energy and agricultural practices in the face of changing climate,” supported by the British Council and The Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development Research and Innovation, Thailand. The Mini-Conference activities will help drive the expansion of the network of cooperation between researchers from both institutions. Important research issues that have received interest include:
- Building capacity of farmers and community through education, cultural intervention, and AI technology
- Understanding how relationships of knowledge and power influence environmental governance
- Developing technology to enhance monitoring the water quality
- Developing drought-tolerant crop variety
- Impacts of landfill leachate on groundwater quality
- Industrial wastes to agricultural feeds: short- and long-term impacts
- Environmental economics and governance
