Workshop on the Development of the Thai Gibbon Action Plan
On February 6, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thatchavee Leelawat, Vice President for Kanchanaburi Campus, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Thai Gibbon Action Plan” workshop, organized by Dr. Chanphen Saralamba and faculty members from the Conservation Biology program at Mahidol University, Kanchanaburi Campus. The primary objective of the event was to facilitate discussions, gather expert opinions, and develop a roadmap for the Thai Gibbon Conservation Plan for the years 2025-2034.
The workshop received strong collaboration from various organizations, including the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, universities, research institutions, wildlife conservation associations, foundations, and other conservation groups.
This workshop was supported by the IUCN Species Survival Commission through Dr. Susan Cheyne, Vice Chair of the IUCN Section on Small Apes, who served as a key sponsor of the event. The workshop is held from February 6-7, 2025, at Vimandin Training and Development Center, Mahidol University, Kanchanaburi Campus.
