Welfare and Benefits
Staffs at Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus (MUKA) could be categorized into 4 groups; including University employee, MUKA employee Government official, and wage employee. The last group could be divided into two types; permanent and temporary wage workers.
Personnel will receive welfare and benefits according to their respective groups as given in the following table. Further details for each welfare and benefit are discussed below.
In addition, other financial benefits that the university has arranged through MOUs with banks and companies are also provided for extra privileges to employees; such as special home loan interest rates, which may be different from time to time. Please check with our AHD staff for currently further details.
Supporting in medical expenses
Supporting in medical expenses for maximum of 20,000 baht per year is provided by the university for university employee. If you choose “Flexible Benefits in Health Aspect” scheme, the maximum supporting in medical expenses will drop to maximum of 15,000 baht per year. These could be used for medical expenses and admitting to the public hospital. This support can also be used for eligible direct relatives. In addition, MUKA allocates the budget for supporting in medical expenses for MUKA employee which has the same benefits comparing to the university employee.
Flexible Benefits
If you are university employee, you can apply for the “flexible benefit” scheme which is a voluntary basis. However, you need to work in the university not less than 8 months prior to applying for the benefits. Once you are in this scheme, you can gain this benefit up to 5,000 baht. It should be noted that this scheme deducts the medical expense allowance from 20,000 baht to 15,000 baht per year.
MUKA employee and wage employees also gain these benefits but have different amount of benefits. Each year, MUKA will provide the amount of benefits depending on the allocated budget up to 2,500 baht per person.
Shutter Service
Shuttle service from the main campus (Salaya) to Kanchanaburi campus (Monday-Wednesday-Friday) and on the way back is provided to facilitate employees who stay in Bangkok or close to Mahidol university at Salaya campus.
Welfare Aid
Once you work at MUKA, you could gain welfare aids supporting for many aspects.
- Admitted to the hospital: If you have to admit to the hospital, you could ask for compensation of 2,000 baht each time. You could gain this benefit twice a year. This aid supports for your eligible and direct relatives.
- Death claim: In the case of employee death, the university or MUKA will pay 10,000 baht per person. If the eligible direct relatives die, you will get death claim for an amount of 5,000 baht.
- Housing assistance in various emergencies: Once employee’s house or accommodation has been damaged by accidents. You could get supports up to 5,000 baht depending on your actual expenditure.
- Birth benefit: If employees or spouses give birth to a child, you will receive 3,000 baht per child.
Staff dormitories
MUKA provides accommodation for staffs who live far from the campus or want to live in the campus. Partial supports are provided for different types of accommodation. Please check whether the accommodation is vacant and ask for the rental price for each type of accommodation with our PED staff. It should be noted that accommodations for staff with families are also provided but I recommend you to recheck their vacancy prior to booking.
Provident Fund
This is a voluntary basis. If you are interested in this package, you could apply for the provident fund. Please discuss with our AHD staff for further details. Provident fund is a retirement saving. Each month we will deduct 4% of your monthly salary and university or MUKA will contribute up to 4% of your monthly salary and then deposit in your provident fund.
Mahidol University Emblem
Once you work in the Mahidol university for a certain period, you could receive Mahidol university emblem with different color.
- Blue Mahidol University Emblem: work at the Mahidol university for at least 5 years
- Navy Mahidol University Emblem: work at the Mahidol university for at least 10 years
- Red Mahidol University Emblem: work at the Mahidol university for at least 20 years
- Special Mahidol University Emblem: work at the Mahidol university for over 25 years
Social Security
All employee groups; excluding government official group who can use OFC benefits, are entitled to social security benefits. This is a compulsory basis. Each month we will deduct some percentage of your monthly salary but not over than 9,000 baht a year and university or MUKA will contribute the same amount of your deduction and then deposit for your social security. You can choose medical treatment rights at your designated hospital. The designated hospitals for MUKA staff also cover Siriraj hospital. In the case that you get sick or accident, it is better to use this social security benefits first. If your medical expense is not covered by social security scheme, you could ask for “supporting in medical expenses” scheme.
Royal Orders and Decorations
University employee and government official groups have their right to apply for royal orders and decorations for the Kingdom of Thailand. Please check how to apply with our AHR Staff.
Leave Benefits
There are 11 types of leave benefits; including sick leave, personal leave, vacation leave, maternity leave, childcare and postpartum wife care leave, leave for religious or ceremonial purposes, leave for moral duties, spousal follow-up leave, and military service-related leave, that you can gain benefits.
