Bachelor of Science program in Food Technology

The bachelor of Science in Food Technology program creates future food technologists that are responsible for health and well-being of society.

Our program provides student with the knowledge and skills in the application of science and technology for large-scale production of food products that nutritious, safe compliant with standards and regulations, and meet consumers; demands. The program also focuses on quality system and food research and development.

Bachelor of Science program in Conservation Biology

The Bachelor of Science in Conservation Biology is only available at one university in Thailand. Conservation Biology is an applied science, in which students gain essential knowledge on biology and its interrelationship with social sciences, economics, and sustainable development.

We are committed to produce highly capable graduates with the broad knowledge, skills and compassion required for a career in conservation biology. Our students are capable of implementing their skills and knowledge to protect, conserve and restore biological diversity.

Bachelor of Science in Geoscience

Geoscience is the study of the Earth and Planet to understand its origin and development through the integration of multidisciplinary including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Bachelor of Engineering Program in Environmental Engineering and Disaster Management

This Bachelor of Engineering program is unique in integrating environmental engineering and disaster management. Our graduates have the ability to design, control and supervise various pollutions treatment systems including waste, wastewater and air pollution. The graduates are able to design utility systems such as water supply and water resources management systems. In addition, they can apply the knowledge of disaster management in emergency response and management.

Bachelor of Accountancy Program

Our Accounting Degree focuses on establishing the Graduates to have prominent characteristics to apply the knowledge in accounting and business administration by integrating all functional knowledge into a whole picture and using the accounting information technology for managing, decisions, tax compliance, planning at all time. In addition to the expected professional characteristics, graduates must have the business ethics to construct the global societal sustainability.

Bachelor of Business Administration Program

The program aims to build high caliber manager, and to equip students with modern business management practices including but not limited to in-depth organization management, specialized practices in offline and online business, marketing, human capital management, finance, accounting, operation management, and production.

The method of learning is conducted through planning, analyzing, negotiation, strategic management, start-ups, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME), and Innovation-Driven Enterprise (IDE) provided by experts in each field.

The Kanchanaburi Campus of Mahidol University offers 7 undergraduate programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Agricultural Science, Conservation Biology, Food Technology, Geoscience and Environmental Engineering and Disaster Management. Admission system of the students is operated according to the policy of Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS), which was launched four years ago and set by Council of University Presidents of Thailand. The system of 2023 academic year consisted of four rounds of admission. The first round required students to submit their “portfolio” to be considered by universities. The second round was dubbed “quota round”, where each university allotted placements to students in specific regions or with special talents. These first two rounds involved no written exam but may require an interview under criteria set by the program committee. The third round involved a central examination with each student choosing four possible subjects without ranking their preferred order. The fourth round consisted of another central exam score consideration while each student can choose and rechoose another four subjects, which was ordered by their preferences.

Upskill- Reskill-Credit bank system is a tool that offer courses providing learners opportunities to gain knowledge and experience from various disciplines at Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus onsite and online.  Currently we offer 66 courses in credit bank and 4 SPOC (Small Private Online Course).

Scholarships

• Name of scholarship: Mahidol University Scholarship For students who genuinely lack funds Undergraduate

Detail: Mahidol University has promoted and supported those admitted by the university. and students who genuinely lack funds to have the opportunity to study until completing a bachelor’s degree by allocating the university’s income budget to provide scholarships to Mahidol University students

Number: Less than 400 scholarships per academic year, divided into two types as follows:

1. 1. Ongoing scholarships for 2nd-year students and up in all disciplines, according to the study plan set

by the program until graduation, the scholarship rate is 50,000 baht per academic year.

• Name of scholarship: Mahidol University Alumni Association Scholarship

Detail: Mahidol University Alumni Association, Under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, was established in 1991 as a center for graduating university alumni relations. Returned to participate in the promotion and development of Mahidol University and has set up the Mahidol University Alumni Association Education Fund. Rapidly changing of the world or VUCA world, knowledge and skills adopted in teaching and learning in the class may not be enough.  Current jobs may be disrupted in the near future or their business flows need to significantly change to cope with 21^st century skills.  New jobs may be created in order to fulfill the gaps with disruptive change in customer experience or customer journey.  Global imbalances in many aspects; such as social, environmental, digital, and life-work imbalances, may cause students and graduates to adapt themselves in order to minimize the gaps and be capable of following the trends.  Students need to search areas that they are interested.  They need to understand the diversity in many aspects and know how to deal or corperate with other people.  University campus should be a place for supporting students to make experiments or trials in order to encourage students to have entrepreneurial mindset.

Enhanced policy to improve student skills in order to become a global citizen and global talent in the near future is a need.  Therefore, Mahidol University has already set the required skills for students to be achieved in 5 domains or called as “HIDEF” which relates to health literacy (H), internationalization (I), digital literacy (D), environmental literacy (E), and financial literacy (F).  Some activities may be counted for more than one domain.  Students need to participate the HIDEF activities and volunteer activities, based on their interests, not less than 100 hours during their study.

Health Literacy (H)

Work-life balance becomes an essential part for present living.  Attempt has been made to encourage students to understand and practice basic needs relating to preventive and corrective measures for good health and well-being.

Typical examples of extracurricular activities in health literacy are as follows:

Basic Life Supports: This extracurricular activity has been conducted every year in order to encourage students to understand about basic life supports.  Theoretically, basic life supports could be online learnt from MUX.  Once students passed the online examination, they could practically learn how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automatic external defibrillator (AED) properly.

Internationalization (I)

People from different countries behave with variously cultural backgrounds, communicate with different languages, and interact with diverse ways of thinking and beliefs.  In order to become global citizen, students need to be aware and interact with people from diverse background.  Therefore, MUKA provides many extracurricular activities to be chosen according to student interests.

Digital Literacy (D)

In a digital era, rapid change in digital technology causes digital imbalance in society.  Students need to understand and catch up with the digital awareness in order to minimize problems arising from misuse technology.  MUKA also provides a digital learning experience space for students to learn, practice, and apply the digital technology in their fields or daily life.

Environmental Literacy (E)

Insufficient awareness in involving people to preserve natural and environmental resources is one of the main reasons for environmental imbalance.  Therefore, our MUKA encourages students to participate in many activities in order to understand and practice how to involve in sustain natural and environmental resources properly.  Many facilities; such as digital herbarium, bird watching, check dam learning station, geoscience museum, geological park, are also provided for students to enhance environmental experience.

Typical examples of extracurricular activities in environmental literacy are as follows:

Nature Game: This activity uses game technique as a learning approach to encourage students and learners to understand the surrounding nature and environment in MUKA campus and be aware of participating in conservation of nature and environment.

Financial Literacy (F)

Understanding investment and financial products will help students to plan and manage daily-life expense, saving, debt and investment for future efficiently.  These will be a financial immune for students in the near future to improve their quality of life.  MUKA also provides investment lab facility which is a learning space for students to understand and practice fundamental and intermediate investment.

Apart from that, entrepreneurial mindset needs to be embedded for students so that they are able to make decision based on the identification and management of intelligent risks or negative impacts from their planned and unplanned actions.

Health and Well-being Support Service

Health and Well-being Support Service 

While living in MUKA, students can avail of health care services by applying for the University Health Insurance plan to the National Health Security Office. Students whose parents are currently working for Thai government sectors or enterprises can receive reimbursement from the parents’ workplaces until the age of 20.

Students can avail health and dental services at Saiyok District Hospital. Prior to receiving the services, students must promptly present their national ID card and student ID card. Students are entitled to consultation on minor health problems at the MUKA Health Center, which is located at the student dormitory, Tel: 086-377-9948, 24 hours from Monday to Friday.  In case of emergencies, students can access help by calling 1669 or 086-377-9948.  

How we support your well-being? 

Student Orientation 

Once you arrive on MUKA campus, we will arrange the second-year student orientation for you.  Academic staff, supporting staff, policeman, and nurse from Saiyok hospital give guidance on how to manage your student-life balance, how to cope with physical and mental health, and how to stay in MUKA campus and Kanchanaburi province safely.  Moreover, our student clubs and societies can also share their experiences in MUKA campus and give you inside information.  

One-stop Service 

When you move into your accommodation, our one-stop service team will help you settle in and guide you.  If you need to talk to someone, whether it is about your student-life balance and accommodation, you can ask our team based in one-stop service office to support you.  Our one-stop service office operates 7 days a week until 8 pm on weekday and 5 pm on weekend.  However, in the case of emergency, our staff is on call for 24 hours. 

How we support your physical health? 

It is very important to ensure that you could access the support when you need it.  Professional nurse is, therefore, standby for health service at the nursing room until 8pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends.   

In addition, our ambulance is standby for transporting patient to Saiyok hospital within 10 minutes after the emergency case is confirmed.     

How we support your mental health? 

If you are facing a mental health crisis and you need to talk to someone immediately.  Our university also provides internal and external service for you to cope with this problem.  Our internal service is “24-hour MU hotline” and “Mahidol Friend” service for you (Only for Mahidol students).  Please follow the steps in this link, if you are experiencing a mental health incident.  Furthermore, this link provides information about how to initially identify yourself whether you are risk to depression symptom using PHQ-9 checklists and how to treat yourself when you face this problem such as stress management, music therapy, napping, and self-compassion.   

For external service, our university also collaborates with “OOCA Wall of Sharing” which is a platform that you can consult to professional psychiatrist personally and confidentially via VDO call.  This service is 24-hour operation.

Careers and Employability

Our programs are outcome-based education.  We collect and balance stakeholder needs.  Backward design of curriculum is designed and the program structure, learning approach, and evaluation are then established and aligned to meet the needs and expectation.  This is to ensure that our graduated students are well equipped with knowledge and skills as the market needs.  In addition, we concern about the future skills and global competence of our students.  Then extra-curricular and activities are provided and further details about these activities are shown in “Skill and Competences”.  We also provide e-learning for students and alumni as shown in “Life-long learning” to enhance their capability and competences.  Students at Mahidol University Kanchanaburi campus have high opportunities to exchange experiences with international students and staffs.  Further details are given in “Exploring the World”.

Apart from that, we have interviewed our alumni about their careers including recommended knowledge, skills and competences.  Therefore, prospective and current students could have their chances to prepare themselves about necessary skills and competences for jobs in the near future.  Further details are given in “Career and Support Service”.
